Software Engineer at Microsoft

Sheshank Chandra

I build backend and full stack systems with C#, .NET, and Azure. I care about how things behave once they are running in production.

About

I am a software engineer at Microsoft working on distributed systems in C#, .NET, and Azure. Before that I spent about two and a half years at Bastian Solutions building event driven microservices for warehouse automation. My background is in backend architecture, and lately I have been going deeper into deployment, security, and observability by running my own projects in production. I studied Electrical Engineering at NIT Silchar.

Experience

Microsoft

Feb 2026 to Present

Software Engineer · Hyderabad, India

  • Designed and built a distributed workflow orchestration engine for multi stage, long running tasks, with configurable retry policies, custom exception hierarchies, and idempotent state transitions across 50+ concurrent workflows.
  • Built region aware service client infrastructure using factory pattern dependency injection, which enabled partition based routing across geo distributed Azure services with zero downtime tenant migrations.
  • Engineered a resilient retry framework with exponential backoff, circuit breaker semantics, and named exception classification, which reduced unrecoverable failures by 40% in production workflows.
  • Owned system reliability as an on call engineer. Removed duplicate task generation bugs, normalized fault code routing, and added named exception classification, which cut spurious incident alerts by 70% and mean time to resolve by 50%.
  • Wrote unit test suites with MSTest and Moq using strict mocks, reaching 90 percent plus coverage on new components, and refactored legacy code for testability with dependency injection and interface segregation.
  • Created internal developer tooling and documentation, including bulk operation CLI scripts, onboarding guides, and a SharePoint Copilot agent that brought new engineer ramp up down from weeks to days.

Bastian Solutions

Software Development Engineer I · Bengaluru, Karnataka

  • Built event driven microservices with Apache Kafka, processing real time warehouse events across distributed services, and cut deployment time by 60% with Dockerized CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps.
  • Added structured observability with Serilog and the ELK stack, plus Redis distributed caching, which cut incident response time by 45% and improved P99 latency under high concurrency.
  • Led a monolith to microservices decomposition using DDD bounded contexts and shared contracts, raising feature deployment velocity by 30% while keeping backward compatibility.
  • Worked closely with product, QA, and DevOps in Agile sprints, ran architecture reviews, and mentored junior engineers on design patterns and testing.
